Human Growth and Development focuses on human growth and development over the lifespan! This course is important because it gives the student a background in human growth and development from before birth, through childhood, into adulthood, and through death and grief. By the end of this course, students will walk away with a broad understanding of the processes and influences affecting the developing person. The focus is on biological, social, emotional, and intellectual aspects across the lifespan, and individual application is emphasized.

Thus, to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the 9-week course content, you are being asked to create a “poster” or power point of your own individual growth and development. For full credit, your poster should include:

  • Name and Date of Birth (5 pts)
  • Weight at time of birth (10 pts)
  • Bonus points if you are able to accurately identify what type of labor and delivery that your mom experienced when you were born: natural child birth or C-section (+5 pts)
  • Pictures of yourself or another person at the time of birth or as a newborn and describe two developmental milestones for this age. (10 pts)
  • Pictures of yourself or another person during the span from 1 month- 11 months and describe two developmental milestones for this age. (10 pts)
  • Pictures of yourself or another person from 1-3 years old and describe two developmental milestones for this age. (10 pts)
